Wilkins Kennedy is proud to be a long-standing headline sponsor of the Staines-Upon-Thames Day – an event which is set up annually by Spelthorne Borough Council.
This is our fifth year of involvement in the event, which is famous for the charity duck race. Entrants design a large rubber duck to race on the Thames to raise money for MIDASPLUS – a charity that assists adults and children with disabilities. The event organisers anticipate more than £10,000 was raised for local charities on the day.
Whilst we are pleased to say that we did enter the duck race, sadly we weren’t first over the finish line, but it was great to make a splash on the Thames and support a local community initiative.
For 2018, we decided to introduce rock painting to the Wilkins Kennedy stand, where children (young and old!) got creative. More than 150 children decorated rocks on the day – some of the designs you can see on our social media pages – you can find us on Facebook, Linked In and Twitter.
It is really great to see the Staines-Upon-Thames Day go from strength to strength and as a firm we are always keen to support local projects. As well as SUTD, we were also pleased to support the Staines 10k race this year.
The Staines 10k has been running – if you’ll excuse the pun – for a number of years. It was originally created as a fast flat competitive course, designed to be an easy run for people of all levels. It was also hoped to be a way of raising much-needed cash for local causes. This year, the event raised more than £6,000 for a number of local causes, including the Samaritans and the Spelthorne Parasports Club.
We’ve never been ones to shy away from a challenge; so when the opportunity arose to get involved in the Staines 10k event we jumped at the chance and our team of intrepid runners hit the streets, without troubling the winner’s podium!
We really enjoy supporting these local events and we had great fun at both the Staines-Upon-Thames Day and the Staines 10K. Many of our clients across the firm are small businesses who continue to put the heart of the community into the fabric of their businesses and that is something that we passionately share with them. Our focus is on developing relationships with our clients to ensure we can work, and grow, with them.
We look forward to seeing you at one of these local events next year!
